Women's Tennis Team Opens Home Portion of Schedule

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss women's tennis team will open the home schedule Friday morning with a match against University of New Orleans at 10 a.m. The team will also take on Jacksonville State Saturday at 10 a.m. and Florida A&M Sunday at 10 a.m.
In his third year, Head Coach Dominic Modisa returns five letter winners from the team that finished 12-13 and made it to the Conference USA quarterfinals. Sophomores Carolin Drescher, Karina Gurgenyan, Alex Kitchen, Lisa Scheider and Kathrin Waidner will look to build on last season's achievements and lead this young team.
The Golden Eagles placed four players, including Drescher, Kitchen and Schneider, on the 2014 Conference USA all-conference team. Last season was the first time a Southern Miss team had multiple all-conference honorees since 1996.
