Women's Tennis Falls 4-1 at ULM

MONROE, La. - The Southern Miss women's tennis team dropped a 4-1 decision to ULM on Saturday at the Heard Stadium.
ULM took the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Karina Gurgenyan and Kathrin Waidner lost to Sophie Rufyikiri and Angela Tejedor 8-1. Carolin Drescher and Alex Kitchen battled at No. 1 doubles, but fell to Medy Blankvoort and Petra Horakova 8-7. Mahitha Dadireddy and Lisa Noderer were trailing Sandy Lochu and Sthefani Rodriguez at No. 7-5 before the match was called.
In singles action, Alex Kitchen put the Golden Eagles in the scoring column with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Rodriguez at No. 5.
ULM posted wins at Nos. 1, 2 and 3 to clinch the match. Noderer lost to Horakova on court three, 6-1, 6-1, while Dadireddy dropped a match to Rufyikiri 6-2, 6-2. Drescher lost to Blankvoort on court one, 6-2, 6-4.
Gurgenyan took the first set of her match at No. 4 6-2 and the second set tied at 2-2 before the match was called. Waidner was trailing in the first set 5-1 to Tejedor before that match was not finished.
Southern Miss returns to action on Sunday when the Golden Eagles travel to Louisiana Tech for an 11 a.m.
