Women's Tennis Team Falls to Charleston Southern, 7-0

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Southern Miss women's tennis fell to Charleston Southern with a 7-0 loss on Monday at the Buccaneer Tennis Complex.
Charleston Southern (7-3) won the doubles' point in taking a 1-0 lead. Southern Miss opened the doubles with Carolin Drescher and Alex Kitchen defeating Alexandra Walter and Yvonne Hubler 8-1 at No. 1. Karina Gurgenyan and Kathrin Waidner lost a close match 8-6 to Nicolin Luecke and Marketa Placha at No.21 doubles. The duo of Mahitha Dadireddy and Lisa Noderer battled Alia Nour and Angelica Sidorenko at No. 2 before falling 8-7 (6) in tie breaker as Charleston Southern clinched the doubles' point.
In singles, Luecke gave the Buccaneers a 2-0 after posting a 6-1, 6-0 over Waidner on court 4. Placha followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Drescher on court 2. Hubler clinched the match for Charleston Southern with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Dadireddy at No. 1 singles.
Kitchen lost to Mi'Kola Cooper 7-5, 6-2 on court 6 and Walters downed Noderer 7-5, 6-2 on court 3. Gurgenyan lost to Nour, 7-6 (4), 6-1 on court 5.
Southern Miss continues its road trip traveling to College of Charleston for a match with the start time scheduled for 12 a.m. CT.
