Men's Basketball Welcomes Rhode Island to Reed Green Coliseum

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss welcomes Atlantic 10 foe Rhode Island to Reed Green Coliseum this Saturday, Dec. 6. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.
Southern Miss and Rhode Island will meet for just the second time in their history, and the first time in Hattiesburg. Last year, the Golden Eagles defeated the Rams in Kingston, 77-64.
When the Golden Eagles face Rhode Island, it will be just their sixth meeting against the Atlantic 10. Southern Miss is just 3-2 when facing the A-10. Head coach Doc Sadler is 3-1 when facing the Atlantic 10.
Southern Miss has won 19 straight home games, the eighth longest streak in the country. The Black and Gold have also won 38 consecutive home non-conference regular season games.
Southern Miss enters tonight's game with a 4-2 record. The Black and Gold are coming off a 78-65 win over North Dakota State. Forward Matt Bingaya leads the Golden Eagles with 16.7 points, which is third in Conference USA. He is also averaging a team-high 5.3 rebounds per game and is connecting on 50.7% from the floor. Forward Norville Carey is second on the team with 10.8 points and 4.5 rebounds. He leads the league in field goal percentage, hitting 68.4% from the floor and is seventh in blocks (1.3).
Guard Chip Armelin is also in double-figures, averaging 10.7 points. Guard Shadell Millinghaus is scoring 7.8 points and is seventh in C-USA in three-point field goal percentage (50.0%). Guard Rasham Suarez is scoring 6.5 points. He is third in C-USA in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.4) and tied for sixth in assists (4.0). Guard Dallas Anglin is third in free throw percentage (93.3%).
The Golden Eagles are scoring 67.8 points a game but is allowing 66.2. Southern Miss is connecting on 46.5% from the floor, good for second in the conference, and 33.6% from three while allowing 45.3% from the field and 34.1% from beyond the arc. The Black and Gold is also being outrebounded, 33.5-to-29.2.
Sadler enters his first season at the helm of the Southern Miss men's basketball program. He has compiled a 153-109 (.584) record in nine years as a head coach.
