Junior Rasham Suarez sat down with Southern Miss Media Relations to answer a few questions:
What made you choose Southern Miss?
I just wanted to come here and take the team to the next level.
How has the transition been from junior college to Division I?
It's been hard. There's been a lot of things that have changed. My role has changed. You just have to make sure that you do what the coaches want to be successful.
What are your personal and team goals for the season?
I just want to make my team better. I want to get them shots and win games. The main goal is to make it to the (NCAA) Tournament.
If there is one player that you try to model your game after, who would it be and why?
Tony Parker, especially the way he comes off the pick and rolls. He takes one or two dribbles and pulls up, or makes the extra pass so someone else can take the shot.
Has there been a returning player that has taken you under their wing?
There's been a couple of players, but Coach (Sadler) mainly. I'm the point guard, so he just wants me to do things right for the team in every aspect of the game.
What are you listening to when getting ready for a game?
I listen to salsa before every game.
What's the best advice you're ever received?
Work hard, play hard.
