Men's Basketball Hosts Troy

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss looks to get back to its winning ways this Tuesday, November 25, when it hosts Troy. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Southern Miss and Troy will meet for the 13th time in a series that dates back to 1950. The Golden Eagles have never lost, holding a perfect 12-0 record against Troy. When played in Hattiesburg, the Black and Gold are 8-0, including a 3-0 record in Reed Green Coliseum.
Southern Miss is 54-2 all-time in November home games, having won 22 consecutive dating back to 2005. The Black and Gold have also won 35 consecutive home non-conference regular season games.
The Black and Gold are also putting their 17-game home winning streak on the line. It is the fourth longest home winning streak in school history and is currently tied for the eighth longest in the country.
This will be the third straight game against a school from the state of Alabama. The Golden Eagles already defeated South Alabama (Nov. 17) and fell at Alabama (Nov. 20). On the year, Southern Miss will play six games against five schools from the state of Alabama. It will also host Spring Hill (Dec. 13) and play UAB twice (Jan. 17, Feb. 7).
Southern Miss has an extensive history against the Sun Belt Conference. When the Golden Eagles face Troy, it will be their 81st meeting against the Sun Belt. When facing the Sun Belt, Southern Miss is 47-33. It will also be the second of three games against the Sun Belt. Southern Miss already defeated South Alabama (Nov. 17) and will travel to Georgia State (Dec. 21). Head coach Doc Sadler is 5-2 when facing the Sun Belt. This will be the first time he faces Troy.
The 2014-15 edition of the Southern Miss basketball team returns just five letterwinners, including no starters, from last year's squad that went 29-7 and won the Conference USA regular season championship.
The Golden Eagles return just five letterwinners from last year's Conference USA Championship team. Forward Matt Bingaya leads the Golden Eagles with 17.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, which is tied for third and seventh in C-USA, respectively. He is also averaging 1.0 blocks and is connecting on 51.4% from the floor. Forward Norville Carey is averaging 10.7 points. He also leads in the league in field goal percentage, hitting 81.3% from the floor and is tied for sixth in the blocks (1.7). Guard Shadell Millinghaus is averaging 10.3 points and guard Chip Armelin is scoring 10.0 points.
Sadler enters his first season at the helm of the Southern Miss men's basketball program. He has compiled a 150-108 (.583) record in nine years as a head coach.
