
Taylor Tabbed C-USA Defensive Player of the Week

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Conference USA announced its weekly award winners and Southern Miss soccer's Brittany Taylor was tabbed Defensive Player of the Week. The award is the first of the season for the Golden Eagles and the first of Taylor's career.
Taylor blanked a top-five scoring offense in the nation in Louisiana Tech with a program-record 21 saves in a 0-0 tie on Saturday. The save total topped the Southern Miss record by five stops and finished just one shy of tying the conference record.
The goalkeeper tallied five stops in the first half and seven in the second before recording nine saves in overtime to complete the shutout. The game marked the second time this season and ninth time in Taylor's career where she posted double-digit saves.
For the season, Taylor has allowed just 10 goals, while making 65 total stops for a goals against average of 1.03. The sophomore ranks fourth in Southern Miss history with 193 career saves and is just nine stops shy of tying Hannah Vanderboegh (2008-11) for third all-time.
Southern Miss returns to the pitch this weekend as the Golden Eagles host Marshall on Friday afternoon (3:00 p.m.) before concluding the weekend against Western Kentucky on Sunday afternoon (1:00 p.m.) at the Southern Miss Soccer Complex.
