Medical Update on Baseball Player Michael Gilbert

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss senior baseball player Michael Gilbert incurred a head injury during a team conditioning session on campus Thursday morning.

Gilbert was originally taken to Forrest General Hospital and was transported to the University Medical Center in Jackson on Thursday afternoon. He is currently listed in critical, but stable condition.

"Michael has been under great care with doctors at Forrest General, and we know that will be the case at UMC as well. He is in our prayers," said Southern Miss Director of Athletics Bill McGillis.

Gilbert is a native of Saucier, Miss.
