Golden Eagles Finish in Ninth-Place at Memphis Intercollegiate

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss men's golf team finished in ninth-place at the Memphis Intercollegiate, played at the par-72, 7,334-yard Colonial Country Club.
The Golden Eagles closed with a final round 309 to finish 58-over par behind eighth-place Mississippi State.
Freshman Casey Fernandez fired a final round 73 to finish eight-over par 224 in a tie for 12th-place. It is his second top 20 finish this season, as he also tied for 11th-place at the Squire Creek Invitational.
Senior Nick Brown finished in 32nd-place, 15-over par, after shooting a final round 81.
Sophomore Kevin Brady tied for 36th-place with a 17-over par 233 closing the tournament with an 80.
Senior Derek Plucienski tied for 40th-place at 18-over after shooting a final round 75 and freshman Drew Kirby finished 27-over par, tied for 61st-place after posting an 83.
Kennesaw State leads the tournament at 28-over par with a 36-hole score of 892, one shot ahead of host Memphis.
Ben Greene of Kennesaw State earned medalist honors in the individual tournament, finishing one-under par. Louisiana Tech's Travis Wilmore finished two-over par in second-place.
The Golden Eagles return to the links for their final tournament of the season when they travel to Texarkana, Ark., for the 2012 Conference USA Championships, April 22-24.
