Women's Tennis Drops 6-1 Decision to ULM

MONROE, La.The Warhawks swept the doubles' competition in earning a 1-0 lead. Kate Lanier and Frances Askew lost to Medy Blankvoort and Monica Winkel, 8-3, followed by Elja van Berlo and Alex Bradley losing to Sophie Rufyikiri and Silvia Tumova, 8-2. Mackenzie Oskin and Moorea Williams lost to Ema Turudija and Vivian Polak, 8-1.
Van Berlo posted the only win for the Golden Eagles with a 6-3, 6-3, win at No. 1 singles over Rufyikiri.
ULM claimed the final five matches with Tumova downing Lanier, 7-5, 6-3 on court two followed by Blankvoort defeating Oskin at No. 3, 6-1, 6-0. Polak defeated Williams, 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 4 spot while Winkel defeted Bradley, 6-4, 6-1 at No. 5. Turudija defeated Askew, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 6.
Southern Miss will host Tulane on Mar. 10 at 12 p.m. on the USM Tennis Courts.
