Women's Tennis Falls To Louisiana Tech, 6-1

RUSTON, La. - The Southern Miss women's tennis team fell to Louisiana Tech 6-1 Saturday afternoon at the Lady Teschster Tennis Complex.
The Golden Eagles dropped to 1-8 while LA Tech improved to 6-3.
Tech opened the match by claiming the doubles' point. USM's Kate Lanier and Frances Askew lost to Elne Barnard and Anna Zurek on court 1, 8-4. Elja van Berlo and Alex Bradley dropped a close match at No. 2, falling to Vivian ten Dolle and Maartje de Wit, 8-5.
The Eagle duo of Mackenzie Oskin and Moorea Williams knocked off Alena Erofeyeva and Laura Fernandez, 8-6.
The Techsters collected five wins in the singles'. van Berlo came back from a set down to defeat ten Dolle by a score of 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 2 position.
Alexus Coats fell to Fernandez at the No. 1 spot, 6-4, 6-2. Lanier lost to Barnard 6-2, 6-4 on court 3 while Oskin lost to Erofeyeva at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-0.
Rounding out the singles, Williams dropped her match to Zurek, 6-1, 7-6 (5) at No. 4 and de Wit outlasted Bradley at the No. 6 position, 6-3, 7-5.
Southern Miss will travel to Monroe, La., for a Sunday match against ULM.
