Golden Eagle Women's Tennis Falls 6-0 to Columbia

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Southern Miss women's tennis team fell 6-0 to the Columbia in non-conference action in Boca Raton, Fla.
The Golden Eagles were swept in doubles action and fell behind early 1-0. Alex Bradley/Kate Lanier combo lost to Bianca Sanon/Tiana Takenaga at the No.1 doubles spot 8-1. Nicole Bartnik and Iani Alecsiu downed Mackenzie Oskin and Moorea Williams in the No. 2 spot, 8-5 to clinch the point. Katarina Kovacevic and Crystal Leung earned a win at No.3 by default.
The Lions began singles' play with a win a No. 3 as Alecsiu defeated Oskin 6-1, 6-0 followed by Leung with a win over Williams at No. 4 by a score of 6-2, 6-0. Lanier dropped her match at No. 2 singles, losing 6-3, 6-0 to Sanon to clinch the match.
Bartnik claimed a win in the top spot over Alexus Coats, 6-4, 7-5 before Kovacevic knocked off Bradley 7-5, 6-2 at No. 5.
The match between Frances Askew and Amy Li playing at No. 6 singles was called due to rain.
Southern Miss will conclude play at Barry University on Friday.
