Women's Tennis Falls to No. 24 Ole Miss

OXFORD, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's tennis team dropped a match to No. 24 Ole Miss 7-0 on Friday at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.
The Golden Eagles dropped to 1-5 while Ole Miss improved to 6-4.
The Rebels swept the doubles point when Abby Guthrie and Iris Verboven defeated Elja van Berlo and Alex Bradley, 8-2 on court two. Caroline Rohde-Moe and Julia Jones followed with an 8-2 win over Moorea Williams and Mackenzie Oskin to clinch the point on court three. Kate Lanier and Frances Askew lost to Erin Stephens and Gabby Rangel, 8-4 on court one.
Ole Miss increased its lead to 2-0 after a Guthrie downed Williams, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4. Stephens then defeated Alexus Coats at No. 2, 6-0, 6-1 before Jones clinched match point at No. 4 with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Oskin.
Rounding out the singles' play, Lanier lost to Rohde-Moe, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 1 while Bradley dropped her match to Vivian Vlaar, 6-3, 6-2. Askew lost to Verboven at No. 6, 6-0, 6-2.
Southern Miss now travels to Starkville for a match on Sunday at 12 p.m.
