Espejo Earns Third-Place Finish at Rebel Intercollegiate

Oxford, Miss. - Senior women's golfer Virginia Espejo posted a final round 74 to finish in third-place at the Rebel Intercollegiate, played at the par-72, 6,351-yard Ole Miss Golf Course.
Espejo finished one-under par with a 54-hole score of 215, which is a new Southern Miss record. Her third-place finish is also her sixth career top five finish, tying Erin Doyle (1996-2000) and Jennifer Keefe (2001-05) for the most in Southern Miss history.
The Lady Eagles closed the tournament with a final round 310 to place in sixth-place. The Lady Eagles finished 42-over par with a 54-hole score of 906, the second lowest score in Southern Miss history.
Freshman Brandi Rodriguez tied for 34th-place after carding a final round 78 to finish 12-over par. It is the first time this year that she has finished outside of the top 20.
Sophomore Vicky Correa and redshirt freshman Lauren Judson each finished in a tie for 57th-place. Correa shot a final round 84, while Judson tied a career-low 77.
Freshman Kelsey Gibson rounded out the scoring for the Lady Eagles, finishing in 89th-place after shooting an 81.
Nathalie Mansson of Tennessee won the individual competition on the third playoff hole after tying for first with teammate Erica Popson at three-under par.
Tennessee won the team competition at one-under par. Tulsa (+39) took second-place and Tulane (+34) finished in third-place.
Southern Miss returns to the links for the Conference USA Championships on April 17-19, in Gulf Shores, Ala.
