Women's Tennis Drops Conference USA Match at Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Southern Miss women's tennis dropped a 5-2 decision to Memphis in Conference USA tennis Sunday at The Racquet Club of Memphis.Southern Miss won at number two and three doubles to take an early 1-0 lead in the match. Vroni van Berlo and Alex Bradley lost to Courtney Collins and Kelly Gray, 8-2 on court one. Asa Bengtson and Zoe Lee fought to an 8-6 win over Andrea Arques-Garcia and Stefanie Mikesz at No. 3. Stephanie Dellocono and Elja van Berlo battled Mariya Slupska and Kathleen Hawkins at No. 2 doubles in a tie-break, 9-8 (7-5).
The Lady Eagles suffered losses in five of six spots in singles. Asa Bengtson notched the only Eagle victory in the fourth position, 3-4, retired.
Southern Miss will be back in action Thursday April 14 to battle Tulane at 2 p.m. at the Goldring Tennis Center.
