Men's Netters Fall At Memphis 5-2

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Southern Miss men's tennis team came up short against Memphis, 5-2, in Conference USA action Saturday at The Racquet Club of Memphis-Indoors.
The Eagles started off behind 1-0 as the team did not have a full lineup. The Tigers swept all three doubles matches. At the number one spot Jan Burmeister and Julien Roussel lost to Joe Salisbury and David O'Hare, 8-3, and Paulo Alvarado and Jovan Zeljkovic 8-3 at the number two spot to Leon Nasemann and John Taylor.
In singles play the Eagles got wins at number one and number two. Roussel took care of O'Hare 7-5, 6-4 and Burmeister was triumphant 6-3, 6-4 over Salisbury. The Tigers were able to beat the Eagles the rest of the way. Alvarado fought hard in the four spot but was defeated 7-5, 6-2, by Johnny Grimal and at the number three spot Zeljkovic fell 6-0, 6-2 to Nasemann. Michael Sims lost to Cedric De Zutter at number six, 6-0, 6-0.
Southern Miss will not host the Conference USA Shootout, April 1-3, at the USM Tennis Courts with teams UAB, East Carolina and Tulane.
