Men's Golf Closes Mobile Bay Intercollegiate in Seventh Place

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss opened the 2011 spring season, finishing the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of South Alabama, in seventh-place.
Redshirt junior Nick Brown closed with an even par 72 to finish the tournament in a tie for 28th-place at six-over par 222.
Redshirt junior Derek Plucienski and freshman Zach Estep tied for 31st-place at seven-over par. Plucienski posted a final round 73, while Estep finished with a 75.
Freshman Kevin Brady, playing as an individual, closed with a total score of 225 to tie for 41st-place.
Senior Brent Hobbs and junior John Kahlden tied for 44th-place at 10-over par 226. Hobbs shot a final round 72, while Kahlden finished with his second even-par 72 of the tournament.
Middle Tennessee State ran away with the tournament finishing with a one-under par 863. Kentucky took second-place, 11 shots back at 10-over par. Charlotte and Akron tied for third-place at 15-over par.
MTSU's Jason Millard finished as the medalist, as he shot a course record 63 to finish 11-under par, seven shots better than second-place Chase Park of Kentucky and South Alabama's Jack Hiluta.
Southern Miss returns to the links in two weeks, when they travel to Lafayette, La. for the Louisiana Classics, hosted by Louisiana-Lafayette, Mar. 7-8.
