Men's Golf in 11th Place at Louisiana Classics

LAFAYETTE, La. - Southern Miss sits in 11th place after two rounds of the Louisiana Classics, played at the par 72, 6,898-yard Oakbourne Country Club and hosted by the University of Louisiana-Lafayette.
Redshirt junior Nick Brown is even after two rounds to tie for 15th-place after firing rounds of 73 and one-under 71. The 71 was his fifth round of par or better this year.
Redshirt junior Derek Plucienski is tied for 38th-place at five over par. He opened the tournament with an even par 72, his eighth round of par or better. However, he closed the day with a second round 77.
Freshmen Zach Estep and Trent Hillis are tied for 49th-place at six-over par. Estep had rounds of 76 and 74, while Hillis shot 77-73. Freshman Kevin Brady rounded out the scoring, carding rounds of 79-76 to sit 11-over par in a tie for 75th-place.
No. 6 Illinois and No. 9 LSU are tied for the team lead at six-under par. Kent State is the only other team under par, as they are in third-place at three-under.
Kent State's John Hahn is the individual leader at eight-under par. Chris DeForest of Illinois is in second-place at six-under. LSU's Andrew Loupe and Carlson Cox of Memphis are tied for third-place at four-under.
The tournament concludes tomorrow with the final round, with Southern Miss teeing off at 8:00 a.m.
