Men's Golf in Fifth-Place at Mobile Bay Intercollegiate

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss opened the 2011 spring season in fifth place after two rounds of the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of South Alabama.
Freshman Zach Estep leads the squad, as he is tied for 17th-place at four-over par after carding scores of 75 and 73 for a two-round score of 148.
Redshirt juniors Nick Brown and Derek Plucienski are tied for 29th-place at six-over par. Brown shot consecutive rounds of 75, and Plucienski posted rounds of 78 and even-par 72.
Senior Brent Hobbs is tied for 42nd-place at eight-over par after shooting rounds of 79 and 73 for a two round score of 152.
Freshman Kevin Brady, playing as an individual, has a two-round score of 142 to tie for 47th-place.
Junior John Kahlden tied his career low round with a first round 72. However, he shot an 82 in the second round to tie for 52nd-place.
Middle Tennessee State leads the tournament at five-over par with a 36-hole score of 581. Charlotte is in second-place at 14-over with a score of 590. Vanderbilt and Akron are tied for third-place at 16-over par.
MTSU's Jason Millard and Chase Parker of Kentucky are tied for the individual competition at two-under par. Charlotte's Olafur Loftssun is in third-place at one-under par.
The tournament concludes tomorrow with the final round, with Southern Miss teeing off at 8:00 a.m.
