HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss baseball team will hold its annual Black and Gold game Sunday at Pete Taylor Park, beginning at 1 p.m.
The Golden Eagles, which finished 39-19 and reached their ninth consecutive NCAA tournament last spring, play their final game of fall practice and give the Southern Miss coaching staff its last look at the players heading into the 2012 campaign.
Southern Miss looks to replace several position player starting positions as well as its starting pitching rotation and closer for the spring.
The Black squad features 2011 starters Kameron Brunty, Isaac Rodriguez and Ashley Graeter, while the Gold squad features Jared Bales, Joe Martin and newcomers Blake Brown and Connor Barron.
In their only fall exhibition contest against an outside opponent, the Golden Eagles defeated William Carey 9-4 in a 14-inning contest last Sunday.
Admission is free for the game.
