OXFORD, Miss. - The Southern Miss soccer team traveled to Oxford and fell to host Ole Miss 3-0 Friday evening.
"I was disappointed in our energy level and execution tonight," head coach Scott Ebke said. "We didn't play with the passion and drive we are capable of playing with. We have to connect passes and work for each other better than we did tonight. We didn't create many chances tonight because we gave the ball away too much. "
Ole Miss struck for the games first goal in the 17th minute as Erin Emerson connected from inside the box on an assist from Dylan Jordan for a 1-0 lead.
Jordan was not finished however as she netted the next two goals, both on headers off cross passes, in the 30th minute and the 59th minute.
Southern Miss managed only four shots in the game, none on goal.
The Golden Eagles return to action on Sunday as they host Northwestern State at the Southern Miss Soccer Complex. Admission is free and kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
"Sunday presents a great challenge for us, they are a good team and playing well so far this year. I am eager to see how we respond on Sunday to our poor showing tonight, Ebke added."
