Baseball Adds Four to the 2011 Signing Class

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss head baseball coach Scott Berry announced today the addition of four student athletes that will join the 2011 baseball team.
Jake Drehoff joins the Southern Miss program from South Foysyth High School in the Atlanta Area where he helped lead his team to four consecutive state playoffs in one of Georgia's toughest 5A regions. The 6'4" left-handed pitcher recoded a 5-2 record as a senior, leading his team in innings pitched and complete games. In 2009 his team was ranked as high as No. 18 nationally and No. 2 in the state of Georgia. He was team mates with current Golden Eagle catcher Chase Fowler.
Andrew Furr is a 6'2 "left-handed outfielder from Ackerman High School in Ackerman, Miss. The all-state outfielder hit .545 with 28 RBI in 25 games this season while recorded a .629 on base percentage and a .857 slugging percentage in his senior campaign. He was selected to play in the annual Mississippi Crossroads all-star game and helped guide his team to the 2009 state championship.
Chase Horn is a junior college transfer from Southern Union Community College in Alabama. Last season with Southern Union he pitched in 17 games, 10 as a starter, winning five games. Over 65 innings he struck out 58 and allowed 62 hits. In his freshman season he was 8-2 with a 4.56 ERA. Over his two year career he has stuck out 129 hitters while walking only 36.
Jackson Posey joins the Golden Eagles from one of the most successful high schools in the nation. As a member of Sumrall High he has helped lead his team to three consecutive Mississippi State Championships and a No.1 national ranking in 2010. In his senior season the 6'4" right-handed pitcher was 12-0 with five complete games while striking out 79 and walking only 13 and posted an ERA of 1.05 for the season.
These four players run the 2011 team additions to 13 total players including Taylor Eads (OF- Northshore HS/Slidell, La.), Ashley Greater (RHP- Pearl River CC/ Poplaville, Miss.), Josh Magee (INF Hoover HS, Hoover, Ala.), Joe Martin (INF, Zachary HS/Zachary, La.), Josh Rogers (RHP- Hillcrest Christian/Jackson, Miss.), Austin Rousell (C- Lutcher HS/Lutcher, La.), Boomer Scarborough(RHP -St. Sanislaus HS/Bay St. Louis, Miss.), Matt Shaw (RHP- Northwest CC/Oxford, Miss.) and Michael Sterling (INF- Meridian HS/Meridian, Miss.)
