Taylor Walker Named Academic All-District

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss senior second baseman Taylor Walker was named an Academic All-District selection by ESPN the Magazine and CoSIDA, announced today.

Walker, who carries a 3.6 GPA in sports management, is leading the Golden Eagles with a .377 batting average and 47 RBI this season. He has started every game this season at second base and hit in the two-hole all but one game, when he was moved down to the three-spot.

As a first team all-district selection Walker will automatically be placed on the Academic All-American ballot, which will be selected at the end of the month.

Last season James Ewing was a first team all-district selection who went on to earn Academic All-American honors, becoming the ninth Golden Eagle to be named an Academic All-American since 1991.
