Baseball Named National Team of the Week

HATIESBURG, Miss. - After a three game sweep of Conference USA foe East Carolina and a trouncing of in-state rival Mississippi State the Southern Miss baseball team was named the national team of the week by Collegebaseballinsiders.com

The Golden Eagles (29-17) started the week with a 14-3 victory over Mississippi State Wednesday at Trustmark Park. Southern Miss then took three from the Pirates, 14-4 on Friday, 8-2 on Saturday and 7-6 on Sunday to move into second place in the Conference USA standing.

With their current 11 game win streak the Golden Eagles also moved back into the national ranking, coming in at No. 27 in the Collegiate Baseball Magazine poll.

Southern Miss returns to action this weekend at it travels to No. 21 Rice for a pivotal three game C-USA series.
