Baseball Vaults Back Into the National Rankings

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - After reeling off 11 consecutive wins the Southern Miss baseball team is back in the national polls this week.
The Golden Eagles come in at No. 27 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Poll and received votes in two other polls.
They also received votes in the USA Today Coaches Poll and the National College Baseball Writers poll but did not crack the top 25.
The Golden Eagles current 11 game win streak is tied with Virginia for the longest streak in the nation as the Cavaliers have also rolled to 11 consecutive wins.
Southern Miss swept East Carolina at "The Pete" this past weekend, its third consecutive C-USA weekend sweep after taking care of Tulane and Houston in the weeks prior. The black and gold also had two midweek wins which included defeating South Alabama and a 14-3 clobbering of in-state rival Mississippi State at Trustmark Park.
The Golden Eagles return to action this weekend as the travel to Rice for a three game C-USA set.
