Team Notes
*Today's captains were defensive back Cameron O'Neal, quarterback Austin Davis, defensive back Deron Wilson and wide receiver Kelvin Bolden.
*Today's attendance was 26,415.
*Southern Miss falls to 9-2 all-time against UAB and 4-1 in games played in Hattiesburg.
*Head Coach Larry Fedora is now 10-9 all-time in conference games 7-4 in conference home games.
*The 50 points given up to UAB is the most allowed this year as well as in the series to the Blazers.
*The Golden Eagles played their first overtime game since the 2008 New Orleans Bowl. They are 4-5 all-time in overtime games.
*The 1,046 combined total yards of offense is a new M.M. Roberts Stadium record, breaking the old record of 1,028 against Tulsa in 2009.
*Southern Miss turned the ball over four times. It is the most turnovers since committing four against UCF in 2007.
Offensive Notes
*Senior center Cameron Zipp started his 34th consecutive game and 37th overall.
*The Golden Eagles gained a season-high 582 yards of total offense. It is their second straight games with 500 yards of offense.
*Southern Miss' three first quarter points tied lowest first quarter output this year. Southern Miss also scored three first quarter points at South Carolina and Louisiana Tech.
*Southern Miss was held without a touchdown in the first half for the third time this year. They were also held without a touchdown in the first half against South Carolina and Louisiana Tech.
*Junior quarterback Austin Davis threw for 388 yards on 30-of-48 passing and two touchdowns. It is his first 300-yard game of the year, and sixth of his career, setting a new Southern Miss record. He was tied with Brett Favre (1987-90) with five.
*The 388 yards passing yards is the fourth highest in school history.
*He now has eight touchdowns on the year and 41 on the year.
*Kendrick Hardy rushed for a career-high 147 yards on 17 carries. It is his second straight 100-yard game and second of his career.
*Hardy ran for touchdowns of 25 and five yards. It is his first career multi-touchdown game, and he has four touchdowns on the year.
*Davis connected with William Spight on the ensuing two-point conversion. It is Southern Miss' first converted two-point try of the year.
*Davis also had a one-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. He now has six rushing touchdowns on the year and 17 for his career.
*Davis' 17 rushing touchdowns give him sole possession of second place for most rushing touchdowns by a quarterback at Southern Miss. He was tied with Don Fuell (1959-61) at 16.
*Desmond Johnson caught a 32-yard pass in the second quarter. It is the longest reception of his career.
*Kelvin Bolden caught 10 passes for 132 yards. It is his second straight 100-yard game and second of his career.
*Bolden caught an eight-yard touchdown pass with 28 seconds remaining. It is his third touchdown pass of the year.
*Johdrick Morris caught nine passes for a career-high 135 yards. It is his first career 100-yard game.
*It is just the third time that two receivers had 100-yard games and the first since Todd Pinkston (110) and Sherrod Gideon (107) in 1998.
*Quentin Pierce caught an eight-yard touchdown pass in the first overtime. It is his second touchdown of the year and fourth of his career.
*Desmond Johnson ran for a two-yard touchdown in the second overtime. It is his fifth touchdown of the year and sixth of his career.
Defensive Notes
*The seven first quarter points allowed tied the season-high for points in the first quarter. Southern Miss also allowed seven points to South Carolina.
*Southern Miss allowed UAB's Pat Shed to run for 176 yards. It is the first time it allowed a 100-yard rusher this year and the first time since Middle Tennessee State's Dwight Dasher ran for 201 yards in last year's New Orleans Bowl.
*Defensive back Marquese Wheaton intercepted his second pass of the year in the first quarter.
*Linebacker Jamie Collins recorded his second interception of the year.
*Defensive back Deron Wilson recorded his second interception of the year in the second quarter.
*The three interceptions tied a season-high. They also intercepted three passes against Louisiana Tech and East Carolina.
*Southern Miss was held without a sack for the first time since last year at East Carolina.
*Under Fedora, Southern Miss has now forced at least one turnover in 31 of 34 games and has two or more in 23 contests.
Special Teams Notes
*Danny Hrapmann connected on a career-long 54-yard field goal in the first quarter. It tied the third longest field in school history.
*He also hit a 24-yard field goal in the second quarter.
*Hrapmann is now 18-of-19 on the year.
*His 18 field goals are second all-time in a season at Southern Miss, passing Steve Clark, who hit 17 in 1982.
