MEMPHIS - The Southern Miss soccer team fell at Memphis 2-0 Sunday afternoon to complete the Conference USA weekend road trip.
Memphis (8-3-1, 2-1-1 C-USA) netted two first half goals off Southern Miss redshirt freshman Lindsey Schwarner, who made her first career start in goal today.
The Tigers opened the scoring in the 25th minute on a goal by Taylor Isenhower and added their only other goal in the 41st minute on Emmaleigh Davis' second goal of the season.
"Today was much better that Friday," head coach Scott Ebke said." Our effort was there from the start and lasted the entire 90 minutes. I thought we played with heart and passion and it showed on the field today."
Southern Miss (3-8-1, 0-4-0 C-USA) was outshot by the Tigers 23-4 on the afternoon with Memphis taking 17 shots in the first half to the Golden Eagles' two.
Rice and Houston will visit the Southern Miss soccer complex next weekend as C-USA play continues for the Golden Eagles. Kickoff vs. Rice will be at 4:00 on Friday and admission is free to everyone.
