Baseball Team Earns Second Preseason No. 21 Ranking

The Southern Miss Baseball team picked up their second preseason No. 21 ranking today as Baseball America release their annual preseason poll.
The Collegiate Baseball Magazine also selected the Golden Eagles preseason No. 21 last month.
The 2010 Baseball America Poll is only the second time in the history of the Magazine that the Golden Eagles received a preseason nod from the publication. The black and gold pulled in a No. 25 ranking to start the 2001 season.
Opponents on the Golden Eagles 2010 schedule could also bee seen throughout the polls including Conference USA rivals Rice at No. 5 and East Carolina at No. 18.
In-state rival Ole Miss pulled in at the No. 24 spot.
LSU is the only other team ranked in the top 25 on the Golden Eagles 2010 schedule with a No. 3 national ranking.
Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball are two of the four major college baseball polls, the other two will be release closer to the season.
The Golden Eagles open the 2010 season on February 19 against Northwestern State at Pete Taylor Park.
