Baseball Vaults Into National Rankings

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - After one of the biggest stretches in Southern Miss baseball history, that has seen the Golden Eagles go 10-3 over the past three weeks including capturing the NCAA Atlanta Regional title, Southern Miss has jumped as high as 17 in the national rankings released today.
All of the three major polls that were released today have the Golden Eagles in the top 20. Collegiate Baseball Magazine has Southern Miss at 17 while Baseball America has the Golden Eagles at 19 and the National College Baseball Writers has the black and Gold at 20.
Southern Miss will travel to Gainesville to face the Florida Gators in the schools first ever NCAA Super Regional beginning on Saturday in the best of three game series with the winner earning a ticket to the College World Series in Omaha.
All three games will be carried live on the ESPN family of networks with Bob Wischusen and former major leaguer Brian Jordan on the call.
