James Ewing Named Academic All-American

HATTIESBURG, Miss - Southern Miss second baseman James Ewing was selected as a second team academic All-American by ESPN the Magazine and the College of Sports Information Directors Association.
Ewing carries a 3.73 GPA in philosophy after completing the spring semester. This season he has had equal amount of success on the field hitting .304 in 46 games with nine double and three home runs while playing outstanding defense at second base.
The senior from Beaumont, Texas was also named the to Conference USA Academic Team and ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA first team all-district. Last week, he was named to the C-USA All-Tournament Team for his play in the C-USA Tournament at Pete Taylor Park.
Ewing becomes the ninth Golden Eagle to earn Academic All-American Honors and the fifth since the 2003 season.
