Todd McInnis Named Conference USA Pitcher of the Year

HATTIESBURG, Miss.- - Southern Miss redshirt-sophomore Todd McInnis becomes the first Golden Eagle to win a major Conference USA Postseason baseball award as he took home Pitcher of the Year honors, announced today by the C-USA office.
McInnis was the unquestioned ace of Southern Miss this season with a 7-4 record and a 2.78 ERA in 71.1 innings pitched. He struck out 62 hitters while walking only 21 and allowed only 22 runs through the regular season.
McInnis has his best starts of the year on the road at Houston, East Carolina and Memphis highlighting his outstanding season. He held the Cougars to just one run on seven hits in 8.1 innings on April 11.
Two weeks later he held the Pirates, one of the nation's top offenses, scoreless over 7.2 innings allowing only two hits and striking out eight.
In his final C-USA outing of the season he was masterful over Memphis working eight innings, allowing one run on four hits while striking out a career his 11. For his effort he earned his first career C-USA Pitcher of the Week Award.
The redshirt sophomore, from Brandon, Miss., earned Freshman All-American honors last season and has amassed a 17-8 career record with a 3.78 ERA.
He was also named a member of the C-USA All-Conference first team, his first All-C-USA Selection.
McInnis will toe the rubber in the opening game of the C-USA Tournament Wednesday evening vs. Tulane at Pete Taylor Park, first pitch is set for 7:30 p.m.
