Southern Miss Places Sixth at Lady Rebel Intercollegiate

Oxford, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's golf team finished in sixth-place at the Lady Rebel Intercollegiate. The tournament is being played at the Country Club of Oxford and is hosted by Ole Miss.
The team shot a 24-over par 312 to finish in sixth-place at 62-over par.
Junior Samantha Holt led Southern Miss, firing a two-over 74 to finish in a tie for 12th-place at 12-over par. Junior Rebecka Nilsson finished in a tie for 21st-place, closing with a 78 to finish 14-over par. Junior Clara Viladomiu shot a 77 to sit in a tie for 29th-place at 18-over par. Freshman Sandra Sohlberg and junior Amy Roberts both closed with 83's. Sohlberg 21-over in a tie for 35th-place, while Roberts tied for 43rd at 25-over.
Ole Miss' Dori Carter won the individual competition after winning a playoff on the 19th hole with Linn Gustafsson of Tulane. Daniela Holmqvist of Tulane and Arkansas State's Adrian Sportsman tied for third.
No. 34 Tulane (294) won the overall team competition, sitting 25-over par, 12 shots ahead of second-place Ole Miss (288 - +37). Oregon State (304) earned third-place at +48. Missouri (303) finished in fourth at 49-over par, followed by Arkansas State (301) in fifth-place at +57. Southern Miss took sixth place, followed by Murray State (297 - +65) in seventh.
Mississippi State took eighth-place at 68-over par, followed by Kennesaw State (+76), Memphis (+90), South Alabama (+92), Belmont (+101), UAB (+122) and Jackson State (+137).
Southern Miss travels to Tulsa, Okla., Apr. 12-14 to take part in the Conference USA Championships.
