Lady Eagles Shut Out Cal State Fullerton, 7-0

HATTIESBURG, Miss. Southern Miss gained a much needed win as they cruised past Cal State Fullerton 7-0 in Fullerton, California on Tuesday.
The Lady Eagles won all three doubles matches, contributing to an early lead. Elja van Berlo and Lauren Gutterman tallied a win at No. 1 against Leslie Bullock and Cheyenne Inglis, 8-1. Hollie Robinson and Shannon Rogers also added to the win, defeating Brandy Andrews and Jerusha Cruz, 8-5. Zoe Lee and Alexandra Kaluza knocked off Karina Akhmedova and Kathleen Doran at No. 3, 8-1.
Southern Miss continued the streak, winning all six singles matches easily. Elja van Berlo defeated Leslie Bullock, 6-0, 3-0 at No. 1, while Alexandra Kaluza picked up a 6-2, 6-1 decision over Karina Akhmedova at No. 2. Hollie Robinson also tallied a win, defeating former doubles opponent, Jerusha Cruz, 6-3, 6-2. Lauren Gutterman knocked off Brandy Andrews at No. 4, 6-0, 6-1. Zoe Lee added to the victory with a win over Cheyenne Inglis, 6-1, 6-2, while Shannon Rogers cruised to a shut out, defeating Kathleen Doran, 6-0, 6-0.
The Lady Eagles progress to a 2-7 record so far this season, returning home to match up against Samford on Saturday at Tatum Park. The match is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
