TULSA, Okla. - The Southern Miss soccer team fell at Tulsa 4-0 Friday evening, dropping their ninth consecutive game, all since Conference USA play began.
Tulsa (7-8-2, 4-5 C-USA) stuck for the games first goal in the third minute for a 1-0 lead. Just over eight minutes later they stuck again for a 2-0 lead just 10 minutes into the game.
"Again tonight we had to play catch up from giving up an early goal," head coach Scott Ebke said.
Late in the game the Southern Miss offense pushed their numbers forward in an attempt to out number Tulsa but the Hurricane took advantage and added two more goals in the games final minutes finding the back of the net in the 83rd and 85th minutes.
Southern Miss was able to get more shots tonight, compared to previous contest with 14 shots to Tulsa's 19.
"We did a better job attacking tonight, but we lack the final execution needed to capitalize on our opportunities," Ebke added.
The Golden Eagles (4-11, 0-9 C-USA) have now dropped 18 straight C-USA games dating back to last season.
They will return to action Sunday afternoon at SMU.
