Soccer Falls at East Carolina, 3-1

GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina used two late goals to defeat Southern Miss 3-1 in Conference USA action Friday afternoon at Bunting Field in Greenville, North Carolina.
East Carolina (7-2-2, 2-1-0 C-USA) struck quick with a goal in the fifth minute for an early 1-0 lead and it stayed that away through the first half.
The second half belonged to three freshmen.
Southern Miss (4-5-0, 0-3-0 C-USA) freshman forward Tricia Tillman tied the game at one with a goal in the 53rd minute.
Bianca Ontiveros took a shot off the corner kick pass from Liz Hamlin. Ontiveros' shot was stopped by the Pirate Keeper but she could not control the ball and Tillman was able to collect the loose ball and score her first career goal.
Tillman became the 11th different Golden Eagle to net a goal this season.
The two teams remained tied until the 65th minute when ECU freshman Caty Butler netted her first career goal and the eventual game winner.
In the 83rd minute, the Pirate's Crissy Gratz became the third freshman to find the back of the net with the insurance goal for East Carolina.
Southern Miss returns to action Sunday as they continue their east coast swing at Marshall, kick off is set for 1:00 p.m.
