Baseball Officially Opens 2009 Preseason with First Practice on Sunday

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss baseball team will officially open the 2009 preseason Sunday afternoon at Pete Taylor Park beginning at 1:00 p.m. as the team holds the first of the spring.
According to NCAA regulations Sunday is the first day that teams nationwide can being practice.
"With the regular season only three weeks away we have a lot to get accomplished in a short amount of time," head coach Corky Palmer said. "It is always an exciting time when you can get your whole team on the field and see the entire team at once."
The Golden Eagles have been working out individually since returning to campus from the Christmas break.
The Golden Eagles will have only 20 days before they open the 2009 season on February 20 vs. Lehigh at "The Pete."
