Lady Eagles Drop to Eighth Place at C-USA Championships

El Paso, Texas - Southern Miss entered the second round of the Conference USA Women's Golf Championships holding a two stroke lead. However, following a rough day on the links, the Lady Eagles now sit in eighth place heading into the final round. The tournament is being held at Butterfield Trail Golf Club in El Paso, Texas.
Sophomores Rebecka Nilsson and Clara Viladomiu and freshman Virginia Espejo are all tied for 21st-place with 157 strokes. Nilsson had the low round for Southern Miss, turning in an 81. Espejo shot an 82, while Viladomiu, who was a co-leader after yesterday's round, turned in an 85.
Sophomore Samantha Holt sits in a tie for 31st-place after shooting an 83 for a two round score of 161. Freshman Jennifer Judge rounds out the scoring for Southern Miss, shooting an 87 (173) to sit in 43rd-place.
Woeri Shin of Tulsa and East Carolina's Abby Bools lead the individual competition with a three-over 147. UAB's Jaime Brabb is in third with a four-over 148.
Tulsa is leading the team competition with a two-round score of 601 strokes (304-297), seven shots ahead of East Carolina (303-305). UCF sits in third with 617 strokes (303-304), with SMU in fourth at 618 strokes (308-310). UTEP is in fifth place with 624 strokes (303-321). UAB (306-321) and Memphis (309-318) are tied for sixth with 627 strokes. Southern Miss (301-331 - 632) and Marshall (316-338 - 654) round out the scoring.
The championship concludes tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. (CT) from holes one and ten.
