Espejo, Women's Golf Finish Second at USA Jaguar Invitational

Mobile, Ala. - Freshman Virginia Espejo shot a final round 73 to finish in second place at the USA Jaguar Invitational, hosted by South Alabama at the Azalea City Golf Club in Mobile, Ala.
Espejo paced the Golden Eagles to a second place finish in the team competition, as well. The native of Madrid, Spain posted her second top ten finish of the spring. Espejo also finished in a tie for tenth at the Baja Invitational.
Sophomore Samantha Holt shot a final round 79 for a two-round total of 155 to finish in a tie for 19th. Freshman Jennifer Judge shot a four-over 76 to finish with a two day total of 159 and a tie for 33rd.
Junior Heather Golden finished with a 160 after shooting a final round 84 to finish in a tie for 38th place. Junior Kate Burns rounded out play for the Golden Eagles, closing with a final round 81 (167) to finish in a tie for 71st.
Sinead O'Sullivan of East Tennessee State shot a one-under 143 (74-69) to win the individual competition, three shots ahead of Espejo.
East Tennessee State won the team scoring with a 24-over par 600. Southern Miss shot a 617 to earn a second place finish. McNeese State shot a 627 to finish in third. Belmont finished in fourth with a 629. Lamar closed in fifth (631), followed by Samford (632), Jacksonville State and South Alabama (633) in a tie for seventh.
Middle Tennessee State and Jackson State tied for ninth at 634, followed by UAB (638), Kennesaw State (639), Louisiana-Monroe and Austin Peay tied with 641 strokes, Winthrop (644), Troy and Arkansas State (649) and Nicholls State (653).
Southern Miss returns to action next week when they travel to Gainesville, Fla. for the Gainesville Shootout III, March 13-14, hosted by the University of Florida.
