Golden Eagles Place Two in Top Ten at Grub Mart-Young Oil Intercollegiate

Jacksonville, Ala. - Senior Kyle Ramey and sophomore Wes Carter finished in ties for sixth and ninth, respectively, and the Southern Miss men's golf team posted a team score of 900 to finish in third place at the Jacksonville State hosted Grub Mart-Young Oil Intercollegiate, played at the Silver Lakes Golf Course in Gadsden, Ala.
Ramey finished with a final round 73 for a three-round total of 223, while Carter shot a 69 to finish one shot back at 224.
Sophomore Paul Apyan shot a final round of 75 for a three-round total of 227 to finish in a tie for 318th. Junior Rocky Cleland finished in a tie for 28th after shooting a final round 80 for 230. Sophomore Tyler Sparks wrapped up the scoring with a final round 78 for a 234 and a tie for 39th-place.
Host school Jacksonville State (886) finished three strokes ahead of Murray State (889) to win the tournament. Southern Miss (899) finished third, while Presbyterian (900) earned a fourth-place finish. Columbus State (905) finished fifth, followed by Jacksonville State's White Squad (919) in sixth.
Armstrong Atlantic shot a three-round total of 920 to finish in seventh, followed by UT-Martin and High Point (921) in a tie for eighth. Stetson (923) finished in tenth, followed by Morehead State (932) and Nicholls State 945.
Southern Miss will now travel to Mobile, Ala. for the South Alabama hosted Mobile Bay Intercollegiate, March 24-25.
