PDF BOX SCORE: SOUTHERN MISS AT SMU
DALLAS - The Southern Miss soccer team lost 4-0 in Dallas Sunday afternoon against SMU. The loss dropped Southern Miss to 5-12-1 (1-9 C-USA) on the season.
Southern Miss created several dangerous opportunities early in the game but could not capitalize especially on corner kicks as the Golden Eagles played into 12 corner situations, including nine in the first half.
The difference in the game was the Mustangs ability to convert their opportunities scoring goals on two of their first three shots.
"SMU was simply able to finish their early opportunities and we were not," head coach Scott Ebke said. "We have to find a way to be more dangerous on our corner kicks and not give our opponents such quality opportunities like we did today."
SMU started the scoring in the seventh minute and added their second goal in the 15th minute to take a 2-0 lead into half time. The Mustangs finished their scoring with goals in the 76th minute and the 80th minute.
Southern Miss will return home for the final game of the 2008 season and recognize the 2008 seniors against UCF on Friday, October 31.
