Lady Eagle Tennis Opens Play At Ole Miss Fall Classic

OXFORD, Miss. -- - The Lady Eagle tennis team opened play at the Ole Miss Fall Classic, notching nine wins on the first day.
Lauren Gutterman won her first match defeating Dara Toulch of Memphis in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1, while freshman Zoe Lee downed Julianna Renesto of Jacksonville State, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4. Freshman Shannon Rogers defeated Mia Gordon of Louisiana-Lafayette, 7-6, 6-2.
In doubles action, Sherry Price and Brittany Serret knocked off Annabelle Bares and Stephanie Viera of Troy, 8-4, before losing to Monika Dancevic and Naoko Ueshima of Georgia, 8-2.
Stephanie Dellocono and Gutterman posted a 9-7 win over Viviane Maranni and Kimberly Ferris of Jacksonville State and an 8-2 win over Mimi Renaudin and Laura Van de Stroet of Ole Miss.
Natalia Parro and Zoe Lee defeated Ruiz de Gauna and Gordon of Louisiana-Lafayette, 8-4, but lost to Eloah Lopes and Juliana Renesto of Jacksonville State, 9-8. Ali Blackett and Rogers downed Caroline Jouanin and Marina Arres of Troy, 8-0, but lost to Elna De Villiers and Valeriya Makarycheva of Mississippi State, 8-6.
In other singles' play, Sherry Price lost to Monika Dancevic of Georgia, 6-0, 6-2, while Dellocono lost to Katie Welch of South Alabama, 6-3, 6-4. Blackett lost to Marjorie Ondeck of Memphis, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5. Serret lost to Renee Joseph of Mississippi State, 6-2, 6-0. Parrado lost to Kristin Chamberlain of Memphis, 6-2, 6-2.
Play resumes on Saturday with Gutterman facing Daniela Juskova of Mississippi State, Lee will face Yana Kireeva of Ole Miss, while Rogers will face Leydi Zora of Arkansas State in singles play.
Dellocono and Gutterman will take on Rawia Elsisi and Leonie Guijt of Troy in doubles.
