Stacie Terry Joins Lady Eagle Basketball Coaching Staff

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- - Southern Miss Women's Basketball Head Coach Joye Lee-McNelis announced the hiring of Stacie Terry as an assistant coach for the Lady Eagle program.
"We are very excited to have Stacie become a part of the Lady Eagle Basketball," McNelis said. "Her experience in recruiting will be a tremendous asset to our program. She has worked with some successful programs and has also helped rebuild programs, and her experience in both those areas will be assets to our program as we continue to rebuild Lady Eagle basketball."
Terry comes to Southern Miss after spending the last three seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Illinois, where her recruiting classes ranked among the Top 20 in the nation. At Illiniois, her primary duties included defensive instruction and working with perimeter players.
"I believe in what Coach McNelis is trying to do here at Southern Miss," Terry said. "I am excited to be a part of this program and have the opportunity to help this program move forward. Southern Miss had made tremendous strides in rebuilding and upgrading facilities since the last time I was here."
After beginning her coaching career at the University of Texas-Arlington, her alma mater, in 1999 as a graduate assistant, Terry then spent three seasons as an assistant at the University of Louisville before heading to Dayton. At Louisville, her role included recruiting, scouting, player development, summer camps and serving as liaison for CardsCare, the Cardinals' community service program. She helped lead Louisville to the NCAA Tournament in 2001 and the WNIT in 2002, and also assisted in bringing in the nation's 21st-ranked recruiting class in 2002-03 according to All-Star Girls Report.
Terry earned a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism in 1998 from UTA. While there, Terry had an outstanding playing career for the Mavericks. During her senior season, she led the Southland Conference in three-point field goal percentage (.384) and was a first team All-Conference pick. The shooting guard also averaged 17.4 points per game, which led the team.
The San Diego, Calif., native played one season of professional basketball in Warsaw, Poland, averaging 12 points and six assists a game for the Polonia Phoenix before joining the coaching staff at her alma mater in 1999.
