Michael Ewing Named Conference USA Hitter of the Week

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss sophomore outfielder Michael Ewing has been named the Conference USA Hitter of the Week as announced today by the conference office.
Ewing batted .600 (6-for-10) to help lead the Golden Eagles to a 3-0 series sweep over Marshall this past weekend. He had three doubles, one home run and seven RBI in the series, while also drawing three walks and scoring three runs. In Friday night's opener, Ewing had a sacrifice fly and a three-run homer to account for four RBI. He finished with a .643 on-base percentage and collected 12 bases for a 1.200 slugging percentage for the week.
This marks the first hitter of the week honoree for the Golden Eagles and fifth overall player of the week selection. Ryan Belanger received the honor on Feb. 25 for his performance against Georgia Southern in the Wiregrass Classic on Feb. 23, David Clark was selected for the honor for his complete-game shutout against Louisiana-Lafayette, and Todd McInnis was selected for the honor for his one-hit performance against Alabama on March 6. Barry Bowden was named for the honor on April 30, after giving up one run and four hits at East Carolina
The Golden Eagles (30-19, 11-10 Conference USA) host Dallas Baptist in a three-game non-conference series at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field on Saturday, May 12 in a 3 p.m. doubleheader and on Sunday, May 13, at 1 p.m.
