Baseball Ranked as High as No. 29 in National Polls

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss baseball team is ranked No. 29 in the nation by the USA Today/Coaches Poll and No. 30 by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
Southern Miss, (17-8, 1-2 C-USA) went 2-2 for the past week, defeating Louisiana-Monroe, 9-5, on Tuesday, before dropping 2-of-3 against No. 7 Rice this past weekend. The Golden Eagles won Friday's game, 9-3, dropped Saturday's contest, 5-3, and lost Sunday's game, 18-5.
In the NCBWA Poll, Rice is No. 9, Ole Miss is No. 18, East Carolina is No. 21, Alabama is No. 25 and Tulane is No. 28.
In the USA Today/Coaches Poll, Rice is No. 9, Ole Miss is No. 19, East Carolina is No. 20, Alabama is No. 30, Louisiana-Lafayette is No. 31 and Tulane is No. 32.
