Lady Eagles Soar Past North Texas, 7-0

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's tennis team soared past North Texas, 7-0, today at Tatum Park, improving the team record to 3-0.
Sherry Price represented the Lady Eagles at the No. 1 singles spot, defeating Megan Schmulbach, 6-3, 6-0, while Brittany Serret provided a win over Idalina Franco, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 2.
Also in singles play, Ali Blackett (No. 3) defeated Aba Butain, 6-2, 6-0, and Stephanie Dellocono (No. 4) recorded a victory over Mary Poe, 6-0, 6-0. Closing the singles roster for Southern Miss are Grace Kammerer, who played No. 5, and Lauren Gutterman, who played No. 6. Kammerer provided a win against Hollie Caras, 6-1, 6-0, while Gutterman defeated Emi Itabashi, 6-0, 6-1.
In doubles action, Price and Serret paired up at No. 1, beating out Butain and Schmulbach, 8-3. Dellocono and Gutterman played No. 2 for the Lady Eagles, defeating Poe and Caras, 8-0, while Blackett and Kammerer provided a victory over Franco and Itabashi, 8-1, at No. 3.
Southern Miss will return to action next weekend, as they travel to Natchitoches, La., to take on Stephen F. Austin on Feb. 10 and Northwestern on Feb. 11.
