Soccer Team Opens Conference USA Play

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- - The Southern Miss women's soccer team is set to open Conference USA play in a weekend series against East Carolina and Marshall. The Lady Eagles host East Carolina on Friday, in a 4 p.m. contest and Marshall at 1 p.m., on Sunday at the Southern Miss Soccer Complex. This is the conference opener for Southern Miss and East Carolina, while Marshall plays at UCF.
The Lady Eagles (4-5-0) are coming off of a 1-0 shutout win over Southeastern Louisiana, Sept. 30.
East Carolina comes in with a 6-1-2 record, following a 2-0 shutout over Francis Marion. The Pirates have allowed only three goals on the season.
East Carolina owns a 5-0 overall advantage over Southern Miss, since the series began in 2001. Last season, the Pirates defeated the Eagles, 2-0, on Oct. 15.
