Women's Golf Opens Fall Slate at Cardinal Cup

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's golf team opens the fall portion of its 2006-07 schedule at the 54-hole Napa River Grill Cardinal Cup being played Monday and Tuesday at the Cardinal Club Golf Course in Simpsonville, Ky.
Fourteen teams, totaling 79 golfers, open play Monday morning at 7:30 a.m. CT with two rounds of play with the completion of the event slated for Tuesday with 18 more holes in a tournament hosted by the University of Louisville.
Six Southern Miss golfers have made the trip including juniors Jennifer Bodemann (Palm City, Fla.) and Lina Jorneskog (Taeby, Sweden), sophomores Kate Burns (Leesburg, Va.) and Heather Golden (Biloxi, Miss.) and freshmen Rebecka Nilsson (Laholm, Sweden) and Samantha Holt (Pensacola, Fla.).
The field includes 13 schools, Augusta State, Cincinnati, East Tennessee State, Eastern Kentucky, Georgia State, Kentucky, host Louisville, Marshall, Maryland, Middle Tennessee, USF, Southern Miss and UNC Wilmington, along with the Scandanavian Amateurs team.
Lady Eagle coach Julie Gallup opens her seventh season at the helm of the program and she is assisted by Ofelia Lopez.
