Soccer To Host LSU On Sunday

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss soccer team hosts LSU on Sunday, in a 2 p.m., match at the Southern Miss Track and Soccer Complex.
It will be the first meeting between the two schools.
Southern Miss, under the direction of third-year Head Coach Gail Macklin, enters the match with a 2-3-1 record, after falling to in-state rivals Ole Miss and Mississippi State by identical scores of 3-1 on Sept. 8 and Sept. 10 respectively.
Sophomore forward Sarah McFadden continues to lead the team with five goals, two assists and 12 points. McFadden is tied for fourth in Conference USA in both goals and assists. Senior forward Carly Barkley is second on the squad with four goals and eight points, while sophomore midfielder Jessica Stephens has three goals. Sophomore midfielder Kalee Silovsky netted her first career goal against Ole Miss last Friday. Senior midfielder Kim Turner and senior forward Sarah Brennan each have single assists, as does junior defender Erin Bunyard.
Defensively, sophomore Holly Cox has 22 saves, while sophomore Christina Duvall has 19.
LSU enters the weekend with a 4-4 record and will be playing its third match this week, falling to No. 14 Texas, 4-2, on Wednesday, before defeating South Alabama 3-0 on Friday.
Michelle Makasini leads the team with seven goals, three assists and 17 points. Roslyn Jones has three goals on the year, while Melissa Clark has two goals and three assists. Malorie Rutledge also has three assists on the season. Defensively, Jackie Moseley leads the team with 20 saves in goal.
Following Sunday's match, the Lady Eagles return to action on Sunday, Sept. 24, at Southeastern La., in a 2 p.m., match.
