Lady Eagle Tennis Team Competing in Ole Miss Fall Classic

Oxford, Miss. - The Southern Miss Lady Eagle tennis team competed in the Ole Miss Fall Classic, recording eight wins in the first day.
Stephanie Dellocono defeated Claudia Szabo of Middle Tennessee, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2, and will move on to play Elizabeth Wood of Ole Miss tomorrow at noon. Sherry Price lost to Nika Koukhartchouk of Ole miss, 2-6, 6-2, 6-4. She will take on Outi Jarvinen of Arkansas-Little Rock in a consolation match tomorrow morning at 9:00.
Grace Kammerer defeated Michaela Cruise of Southern Illinois, 7-6, 2-6, 6-0. She will move on to compete against Murray State's Adriana Alvarez at 10:15 Saturday morning. Brittany Serret lost her match-up against Sabine Tsala Mvilongo of Southern Illinios, 3-6, 6-2, 6-0, and will play in a consolation match against Ann Kristen Siljestron from Middle Tennessee Saturday afternoon at 1:30.
Ali Blackett defeated Jessica Flannery of Southern Illinois, 6-3, 6-2, and will advance to take on Catalina Castillo of North Florida Saturday morning at 10:15. Natalie Parrado lost to Carly Dixon of Arkansas, 6-1, 6-0. Lauren Gutterman provided another win for the Lady Eagles, defeating Nicole Shaw of Troy, 6-3, 7-6. She will move on to play Florencia Torres of North Florida tomorrow morning at 10:15.
In doubles action, Dellocono and Gutterman finished the day with two wins, defeating Jarvinen and Marta Gomez-Jordana of the Arkansas-Little Rock, 8-6, and Suzanne Jones and Caroline Jouanin of Troy 9-8. They will advance to compete against Koukhartchouk and Carlin Cochran of Ole Miss tomorrow morning at 9:00.
Price and Kammerer won their first doubles match against Dixon and Melissa Hoffmeister of Arkansas, 8-0, but later lost to Claudia Strauss (Troy) and Jelena Krivacevic (South Alabama), 8-4. Serret and Blackett lost to Adrianna Solarova and Sylvanie Spangenberg of South Alabama, 8-6, but bounced back to defeat Cruise and Flannery of Southern Illinois, 8-2. They will advance to play Hala Sufi and Szabo of Middle Tennesse Saturday morning at 9:00.
The Lady Eagles return to action Saturday.
