Women's Tennis Falls To Louisiana-Monroe, 4-3

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Lady Eagles fell to the UL-Monroe Indians today at Tatum Park, 4-3.
With the loss, Southern Miss drops to 2-4 while Louisiana Monroe improves to 2-2.
"It's tough to lose 4-3, especially when it came down to the last two matches" Head Coach Randy Rowley said. "Our doubles let us down, though Grace (Kammerer) and Sherry (Price) played fantastic today. No excuses, but we're dealing with some injuries right now and we're trying to get out of that and pull through."
The Indians gained the early momentum, winning the doubles point off of two out of three positions. Pauline Bourdet and Sharon Makhanya (ULM) defeated Chelsea Bond and Courtney Ulrich, 8-6, at No. 2 doubles while Ali Blackett and Nikhila Narra lost to Giovanna Arroundo and Noelia Leon (ULM) at No. 3 doubles, 8-5.
The duo of Grace Kammerer and Sherry Price won at No. 1 doubles against Diana Espinal and Daliny Sithimorada (ULM), 8-6.
For the season in doubles, Kammerer/Price improve to 2-4 while Blackett/Narra fall to 3-3. Bond/Ulrich fall to 0-1 in Bond's spring debut.
Singles play was split between the two teams, as Southern Miss posted wins at No. 1, 3 and 5 singles.
At No. 1 singles, Price defeated Espinal (ULM), 4-6, 6-2, 6-3. With the win, Price improves to a team-high 4-2 in singles.
Blackett won at No. 3 singles, defeating Sithimorada (ULM), 6-1, 6-4. With the win, she improves to 3-3.
Narra also won at No. 5 singles, beating Makhanya (ULM), 6-1, 6-3. She now boasts a 3-3 record.
Leon defeated Kammerer in three sets at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 2-6, 6-2. Parrado lost to Bourdet at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-1, and Ulrich lost in three sets, 5-7, 6-2, 6-0. For the season, Kammerer now stands at 1-5, Parrado at1-5 and Ulrich at 3-3.
The Lady Eagles return to the court on Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 1 p.m. for a home contest at Tatum Park.
